Meeting transcripts without a bot in the participant list
On-device transcription — nothing uploaded
Most transcription services work by sending a bot that joins your call and listens in. kilde takes another path: the meeting is recorded on your Mac (the audio never leaves it), and transcription runs on your Mac too. No extra participant in the list, no audio uploaded, no account to create — and the transcript is written next to the recording.
From recording to transcript
- Record the meeting with both voices. A recording with the participants' audio and your microphone is what makes a transcript worth reading — start here if you are new to kilde.
- Transcribe. In the menu bar app, turn on “transcribe after recording” and
it happens automatically. From the command line:
kilde transcribe meeting.mov - Read or reuse it. The transcript lands next to the recording, with timestamps, as Markdown, SRT, WebVTT, plain text or JSON.
What “on-device” means here
Transcription uses the speech recognition built into macOS and runs entirely on your Mac (macOS 26 or later). Your audio and the transcript text are never sent anywhere — the only network connection it adds is downloading the transcription language model for your language from Apple, which the system manages. This is described in detail in the privacy policy.
When a bot-free transcript is the right call
A bot cannot join calls you record locally — webinars and client calls where inviting a listener is awkward, or meetings on platforms with no bot integration at all. Recording on your Mac has no such gate: if your Mac can play it, kilde can capture it and transcribe it. And because nothing is uploaded, the recording and the transcript stay yours alone.
